Mobile Messaging Terms

These terms govern the Midwest BJJ SMS program. By opting in (checkbox at signup, in your portal settings, on an event RSVP form, by verbal attestation at the front desk, or by texting START to our brand number) you agree to the terms below. The Midwest BJJ SMS program is offered by Midwest BJJ, LLC.

What we send

Class schedule updates, gym closures, event reminders, account alerts (e.g. billing failures), belt-promotion milestones, and other operational notifications about your membership. The program is transactional only — we do not send marketing SMS or third-party content.

Frequency

Up to 10 messages per month.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Charges come from your wireless carrier, not from us, and are not refundable by Midwest BJJ.

How to opt out

Reply STOP to any message — opt-out is immediate and applies to every message type in the program. You may also toggle SMS off from /portal/settings/notifications, or email legal@midwestbjj.org. Re-enrollment requires a new explicit opt-in.

Reply HELP to any message — you’ll receive our gym name and links to this page and our Privacy Policy. You can also email legal@midwestbjj.org.

Carrier and delivery

Messages are sent via Twilio. Delivery depends on your wireless carrier (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, etc.); Midwest BJJ is not liable for messages that are delayed, lost, or delivered out of order.

Privacy

Phone numbers and consent state are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing. See our Privacy Policy for the full data-handling description.

No SMS inbox access

The Midwest BJJ mobile apps do not request READ_SMS or RECEIVE_SMS permissions and never access your device’s SMS inbox.

Eligibility

You must be 13 or older to opt in. A parent or guardian may opt in on behalf of a minor in their care, consistent with our Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes (new message kinds, frequency band changes) will be announced via in-app notification and email at least 7 days in advance.
